Taking Responsibility For Your Surroundings

By | December 19, 2013

165 Thinking GreenThe nature is in need of special care and attention. It gives us a lot of benefits and things that we need and we should be grateful enough to give back to our mother earth. It is our only home where humankinds can live. It is imperative to take good care of it and preserve the earth for the next generations to call it as their home too. These past few days, months, or years though, there had been a lot of occurrences including typhoons, earthquakes, landslides, and all the other natural disasters and calamities for which one of the reasons of these occurrences is probably because of climate change.

Climate change is inevitable, it cannot be change, and no one can reverse it. The damage has been done. The only way for people to save mother earth is to actually change one’s ways. It might be hard; it can affect anyone, even the economy because the main contributors of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are factories and the industrial communities that are also contributors for a healthy growth of the economy. But, it does not have to be a big change in one day. One just have to make a difference, a small change every single day to make a big enough change in people’s ways that can eventually save the environment. One has to think green now and change his or her ways.

For one, start with your own self. Think green. Change what you always do that can harm the environment. Assess yourself and take responsibility for the actions that you are doing that can harm your surroundings. Are you throwing garbage anywhere you want? Are you wasting too much water? Do you have a large amount of electric bill? Do you even give importance to your surroundings? Do you keep your surroundings clean? These are just some questions that you should ask yourself. One cannot change the world in just a blink of an eye; he or she has to start small. And where else should he or she start change, but within his or her self. Change your own ways. Throw your garbage in a trash can and segregate. Also, remember the slogan, ‘reuse, reduce, and recycle’? Keep that in your heart and always remember that. Use things that you can still reuse and recycle rather than just simply throwing it out. Reduce your use of water and electricity. Earth might be composed of 70 percent water but still one has to conserve water because out of those 70 percent, 97.5 percent of it is salt water which basically cannot be consumed by people for basic needs such as drinking water and for cooking. Also, by driving your car lesser times, not only can save you money but you are also saving the earth from pollution and the carbon dioxide that your car emits. According to studies, by not driving your car this morning for work, you actually did not add 1.5 pounds of greenhouse gasses in the environment.

See? In our own little ways, we can make a difference. Start thinking green now and make some changes in what you do. It might be small but add it all together and it can become bigger. Also, encourage others to change their daily routines that can add up injury to the planet. Do not be a hypocrite, though. You have to start changing yourself first before you can encourage others to change themselves.

Make Your Home More Eco-Friendly

By | October 9, 2013

169 making your home more eco friendyAre you planning for a home make over? Then making your home a more eco friendly place is the best thing to do. Now, how can you do it?

To have a more eco friendly home you should start with your energy consumption. Use low wattage light bulbs. Changing your light bulbs into lower wattage bulbs is the easiest way to save energy. They tend to use less energy and most often are brighter than the standard light bulbs.

Apply this not only to light bulbs but also to other energy consuming things at home. For a more efficient use of energy, unplug them when not in use. This way you can save more energy at the same time you can avoid electrical problems. You should also consider using sensor light bulbs. It can save a lot of energy since it will keep you from leaving the room without turning off the lights.

Another way to save energy is to install skylights in your roof. Making your home brighter through skylights will allow you to save more money.  It will also allow the sunlight to light your house and take note that sunlight provides brighter light than any bulb.

You may also want to consider installing solar panels in your home. Solar panels create energy form the sunlight. It converts the heat of the sun into energy ready for consumption. Yes, it will cost you a lot to install these panels but if you consider the benefits you will see that you are in a win-win situation.

In making your home more eco friendly you also need to look at other things like conserve water. In choosing the material of fabric to be used in your home, choose those one that is made from materials that will enable you to save water. For shower curtains use a water resistant cloth shower curtain. Turn off all the faucets every after use. Also, if your sink or water tank is leaking, get if fixed immediately. Does your toilet consume a lot of water? Then it is about time that you should change your toilet into a more water saver toilets.

Consider buying secondhand furniture. This way you will be able to save manufacturing costs and who knows you have saved a tree. Furniture’s made from wood will make your house look more eco-friendly. But it does not need to be old; the main point here is to save materials that could have been used if you purchased a brand new.

A garden would complete the package of an eco friendly home. Make your home greener by planting flowers and beautiful shrubs around your house. It would also help cleaning the air that you breathe.

There is no place like home. So give your home the best make over that you can.

Effects Of Recycling To The Food That We Eat

By | September 20, 2013

090 does recycled trash affect our foodClimate change has been one of the greatest concerns of people at present. Unpredictable weathers, imbalances in the ecosystem, and the increase in temperature are evident signs of this phenomenon. There may be no way to stop climate change from its inevitable occurrence, but people are highly encouraged to at least, mitigate its effects. And one example of these mechanisms is done through recycling.

Recycling is the process of changing used materials or wastes into new, re-usable ones. The big rationale behind this is to conserve the use of resources and also avoid, as much as possible, the burning or throwing of these non-biodegradable wastes to landfills and water systems. Aside from saving the environment, recycling also helps you save a lot of money by turning these plastics and straws into useful wares like fruit or food baskets, water containers among others.

But there also some rising concerns that people forward with regards to recycling trash. And one of the most prevalent ones boils down to this question: Does recycling trash affect our food?

Not necessarily. Risk is a part of our everyday life. Our task is to lessen these risks until they reach the minimum level. In cases of these used plastics and straws changed into food baskets and such, make sure that these materials are cleaned properly and thoroughly. The contamination can come from bacteria or germs that could have been staying in the plastics while they are in the trash can.

But if you are still a bit hesitant or unsure about its cleanliness and safeness, then you can also go to eco-friendly licensed stores that sell these kinds of recycled, but good quality products. This way, you can be sure that they are safe to use and can also save a lot of money that can be put to other purposes.

Recycling is one good practice of conserving and preserving the environment. Use your imagination on what possible things can be created out of these wastes. Be conscious of the ways you use these resources and think of other possible means to maximize the functions of these materials.

So with the question, does recycling trash affect our food? No, it doesn’t as long as you take precautionary measures like cleaning them properly before you turn them into wares where you put your food in. Serve as a role model to others. Share to them the value of taking care of the environment. Fight climate change with the creativity and innovativeness that is in recycling.

Why Should You Buy Natural Health Products

By | August 23, 2013

When it comes to health products, there are two choices that we have. Those are natural health products and those chemical-based health products. But before you choose let me tell you some information that you should know about health products and those that were labeled ‘natural or all-natural.’ Because of the increasing health concerns that people have today, the demand for health products are also increasing. Many people want to be healthy and want to live longer. Also, there are people who want to take health supplements to protect themselves from harmful substance like alcohol, nicotine from smoking, and drugs. But some of them don’t want to stop their bad vices; instead they take health products to balance their health. Let me give you an example for that; a guy who drinks everyday puts his liver at risk because too much toxin could affect his liver and could develop liver cirrhosis. But to prevent that from happening, he will take liver supplement to protect his liver and keep his liver functioning. Isn’t that a wise move?

086 Natural Health products

But the sad part is when your body gets used to the supplement or it’s immune to it and it won’t recognize it as supplement anymore. So, the best way to protect your liver is to get rid of your vices. Now, to maintain a good health and improve your well-being, you need to continuously take health supplements. Health supplements enhances the function of your body like your metabolisms, your energy level, your digestive system, your immune system, it also serves as suppressants in case you want to control your appetite. But the function of the health supplements will depend on its type and your needs. There are different varieties of health supplements to choose from in the market and each of them has its own distinctive function.

The confusing part is all of them claim to be “natural, safe, and effective.” But is all health products that were labeled natural are really made from natural ingredients? Sad to say this but No! Not all of them were actually made from natural ingredients or extract. Remember that they still go through processing and some manufacturer may use harmful chemicals and will not include it on the label. But how can they get away with this? Simple, most of the natural health products don’t need FDA approval to be sold. That’s why; there is a risk in buying health products that did not pass FDA testing. Natural products are not required to have their products tested by FDA, that’s why as a buyer, bee keen when you choose the natural health products that you will use.

Based on reports of World Health Organization or WHO, environmental factors play a big role of the diseases that has been reported. That’s why our environment can easily affect our health if we don’t give much attention to it. So, if you want to stay healthy, you need make sure that you are also living in a healthy environment. Because of our lack of care, we don’t easily notice that we are already causing so much damage to our environment that in return could give us health problems. So, to prevent you and your family to get sick, you need to take actions and here are my advice to you.

Clean Your Environment

It’s very important that you regularly clean your environment especially your surroundings. You need to properly dispose your garbage. You also need to get rid of stagnant water where mosquitoes could breed. Dengue has been one of the top killers these past few years, especially if you live in tropical places. Clean environment also means healthy environment. There will absence of bacteria and viruses that could affect our health and make us sick. Try to declutter your staff, get rid of those things that are of no use. Also, always wash your hands every time you enter your house especially before and after eating. Your hand has been expose to different bacteria and microorganisms that can also affect your health.

Protect Yourself From Pollution

Now, part of the unhealthy environment is the pollution from factories, vehicles, garbage, and other cause of pollution from air, land, and water. So, if you want to protect yourself, try covering your nose when you are on street especially if you have asthma. You can also use SPF to protect your skin from harmful ray of sun.

Be Updated With Your Vaccine Shots

Next, you need to make sure that you are updated with your vaccine shot like measles, flu, Hepa A & B, chickenpox, and other vaccines that will protect your health from potential diseases.

These are the things that you can do to protect yourself from the possible sickness that environment can give you. There are things that you can control and things that you can’t. Make sure that you do something on the things that you can control.

How To Keep The Environment Healthy: Start In Your Own Surrounding

By | July 2, 2013

036 Thinking GreenThey say that to effectively influence your surroundings, it should start in you. If other people see how you live your life and how you take care of your surroundings, they will start to admire you and eventually follow your actions. So, to answer the question on how to keep environment healthy, we’ll, you need to start in your home. There are many things that we do that can actually harm the environment and one of those top reasons is the use of plastic. Plastic can really affect the environment because they don’t easily dissolve. Plastic can cause clogged to the drainage and could also cause flood. The chemicals use in making plastics can harm and pollute the air and also affect the ozone layer. So, have you ever tried to check your home and see if how many plastic items you are using? If you see many plastics in your home, you can start changing them with eco-friendly items like those that are made of wood or bamboos.

Next, you also need to start segregating your garbage. Try to have two garbage cans. One is for the garbage that is biodegradable and the other is for non-biodegradable. Another one is start using eco-friendly products like your soaps and shampoos. Regular shampoos are made of harmful chemicals that could affect the environment. So, if you stop buying them, the manufacturer who produces them might convert his company to eco-friendly products. Learn to recycle things. Instead of adding to the trash, why don’t you recycle? You can use those plastic containers as pots for your plats. Or try to learn other ways on how you can recycle these plastic items instead of throwing them anywhere which could hurt animals and pollute the water. You can check in the internet about some suggestion on how to recycle. Recycling will not only help the environment but also it will save you money.

Also, another way is try to save energy as much as you can. Saving energy can help in keeping the environment healthy. Minimize your energy consumption like limiting the hours of watching TV and when you turn it off, unplug it out of the socket. Do not put it on standby mode because it still consumes 25% of the electricity. This applies to your other electric appliances. Then, in the morning, try to use natural light instead of turning on your lights. There are other better ways on how to keep environment healthy. You just need to know what they are.

What Does It Mean When You Are Thinking Green

By | June 11, 2013

023 Thinking GreenWe commonly hear this phrase “Think Green”, but what does it mean exactly when you hear it? A simple definition of thinking green is protecting the environment. Anything that you do should not do any harm to the environment. Instead, you are helping in protecting the environment. Nowadays, many people and organization are abusive to the environment just because they are putting up a business. Trees are cut down, rivers are polluted, air is also polluted, and waste products are not properly disposed which cause pollution to the environment. That’s why those people who have concern and care to the environment are doing everything they can to maintain and protect the beauty of the environment because at the end we will be the one who will also suffer the consequences of our actions. That’s why there is a campaign from the environmentalist that each of us should think green if we want to save the environment. We don’t need to join any environmentalist group so we could say that we are thinking green, we can actually do that in our own home.

Learn To Recycle

We all know that we are using some recyclable products like water containers, plastics, and etc. Instead of throwing these materials which could just cause harm to the environment, learn to recycle them. You can get some great recycling ideas online in case you don’t know how to recycle this stuff. Like for example those plastic containers that we buy, we can make that an alternative for pot for our plants.

Properly Dispose Your Garbage

Sometimes we get irresponsible when it comes to disposing our garbage. Before we dispose, it’s better that we also learn how to segregate so we could separate recyclable things to non-recyclable. We also need to separate bulbs, electronics, batteries, and polystyrene. These materials can hurt the environment because they contain harmful chemicals. There are idea guides that you can read online about how to properly segregate your garbage to prevent causing harm to the environment.

Use Eco-Friendly Products

Next, try to use eco-friendly products. Like for example for your cleaning products, there are so many organic products that you can buy like dishwashing soap, shampoos, soap, body wash, laundry soap, and etc. There are also eco-friendly clothing that are made from bamboo.

There are so many ways and ideas of thinking green. But the main concern here is how many of us are really thinking green and applying them? Most of us will only realize it’s worth after a tragedy happens.

Recycling Benefits To The World

By | May 16, 2013

096 recyclingWhat is recycling? Is it something that can reduce the volume of waste released everyday? Reduce, reuse and recycle. These are the words we often hear and they are to remind you that it’s a must to control the waste. Our lives today are a lot different than before. It is more convenient, fun and expensive. Recycling waste is not only reducing the garbage but also reducing the chemicals. Wastes coming from individual homes everyday are not totally dissolved. Most of them are made of plastic which takes millions of years before they can totally decomposed. This is why, authorities advice various establishments to get rid of plastic. Groceries and other supermarkets used paper bags instead of plastic bags because they are eco-friendly, cheaper and easy to recycle. This way, we extend the life of items instead of throwing them. To protect the earth, we must recycle and promote recycled items instead of buying new items over and over again.

How will you recycle? What are the basics that you need to do? First, you need to check common items that can be found inside the house. If you have your own office, survey your office items too. Determine the usable stuff. Make them visible or accessible. Provide enough storage for all usable items and those that you do not use, think what you are going to do with them. If you can sell them, go on. You can also donate them to those in need. Those that you considered waste can be recycled. Recycling is the art of making something out of the items you considered unusable.

We will drown in waste if we don’t know how to recycle them. Materials that are perfectly recyclable are paper, tin, plastic, aluminum, and wood. Experts even come up with machineries and modern ideas on how to make recycling a lot easier. Open video sources online because there are tons of ideas that you can apply. It is clear that digging a hole is not the answer to the problem. Sooner, the holes are not enough and waste will spill into our lands. Aside from environment preservation, there’s more to expect if you choose to recycle.

Financial Income – There is sure money in recycling. Instead of throwing those things you do not want or need anymore, recycle them and earn. Several shoe boxes can be made into home decors.

Job Opportunities – There is job in waste. Incinerating 10,000 of waste can create a job, land filling 10,000 can create six. How much more if you recycle?

Recycling is a matter of choice. The world shouts for it. But, if you don’t want to do it, we can do nothing about it.

Keep An Environment Healthy Place

By | March 4, 2013

009 How to keep environment healthyOur world today is currently suffering from our own wastes and irresponsibility. We need to make it up to our mother earth now because we may lose our planet due to our irresponsibility. There are so many environmental groups today that stress this because we only know of one planet that is capable of allowing humans to live on it. This is our beloved planet Earth which composes of more than 50% water. That’s why it is important to find out how to properly segregate our wastes.

Many of these environmental groups have already started to raise awareness of individuals and companies so that they will start to be more environment friendly. There are many of these that have come up such as segregation of wastes and even having proper disposals of many kinds of chemicals. These are stressed and really brought up because our earth is somehow dying and it needs our help. The only way that we could have known is if we were really aware of it in the first place. That is what the environmental groups have done for us.

An example is there are many flyers found in villages or any establishments wherein it is demonstrated how to segregate your biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes. The trash cans are even color coded to remind the public where to put their trash. They encourage discipline about these things because they are dump somewhere in the country. The great thing about it is that one may see to it that everything that is recyclable is easily identified. Making it easier for many people to set aside what they may resell or reuse.

There are companies who also apply this type of waste management and are able to also find ways to dispose harmful chemicals which may harm the environment. It is really something that a lot of chemicals should do especially if they are dealing with people who are sensitive about this topic. It’s important to know how to control it and be able to manage to provide options on how to properly dispose it. That is after all what is important and not just getting wastes out of one’s building. In some countries, companies who do not adhere to rules of waste management may be penalized or sanctioned.

This is to stress as to how important it is to really to make sure that they understand these things. It is really important because they know that what a lot of people manage to have are really things that have to do with where we live. We need to be more responsible and see to it that it is something that we need to do. Since this is clearly for our benefit and we should try to take care of the place that we live in. There are many other people who even take an active participation on this.

This is seen when they end up making documentaries regarding the status of other countries. They stress problems about our environment and how it can cause global warming and other possible problems in the future. Sometimes, we don’t listen but we should now become aware as to how it is affecting us. That is really what is important because we can’t anymore be ignorant in our way of living on Earth. It is now time to take action.

So, please remember that we need to care about the place we live in. We all need to do our part in all of these because it is the only way we will be able survive. That is really important for everyone.

Thinking Green For A Better World

By | January 24, 2013

Thinking green is one way to promote economic, environmental, and social well-beings in our planet where humans find their best habitat. How wonderful it is to think that the impact on how you care about your environment is making considerable difference on the world. Every person should come to know that they are solely responsible for taking care of the planet and ensure their bright future. You may at times act indifferent, yet everyone should understand that how you care about the world also brings great impact on your acquaintances with people-they will be able to tell what kind of person you really are.

044 Thinking Green

Many might think that going green costs a lot, time-consuming, and may require change in lifestyle. It might be right but not in most cases. If you really wish to do it so, you will always have to look for the excellent health and environmental gains it gives. As we all can see, the call for go or think green is now being a widespread, from magazines, newspapers, social media, radios, and even on televisions. The best way to convey the great message that our planet indispensably needs as every person around the world is experiencing tremendous health and environmental problems brought by both manmade and natural disasters that have destroyed the rainforests and floras.

You must think that saving the world by thinking green is indeed elusive. Yes, it is if you just do it alone. You may also think that it is not easy to carry on the call to every nation with every different culture to unite to the said concern. Those cultural differences can truly have profound effects on how people perform towards the environment. That is why there are many environmental groups or environmentalists from different parts of the globe who extend their aid to everyone on how to practice thinking green. You are just a network, a call, or a message on your cell phone away in case you would like to participate. Life is a non-stop work; May the work you do is for the benefit of your own self, family or company or your fellow people in the same continent you live and even outside of it. How rewarding and fulfilling it is to be part of the said undertaking with the aim to better the life of every living thing and creature in our planet.

As a human being you are given the power to control and maneuver the choices you make, ranging from the type of things you buy, a place you wish to go or live, and food and drinks you sell and buy. It will be very rewarding when you make the choices with amazing results. Every single environmentally-friendly contribution you exert helps every single living thing in this planet too.

Just think of our rivers. What can you see in it with your naked eye? In the years to come, if we cannot save them, will we be able to eat fish or eat healthy fish? Every trash that you throw into the rivers risks the lives of our healthy sea foods and every sea creature living in it. Look at our city streets when you drive along? Do you breathe or inhale fresh air? Using better types of transportation is one way of thinking green. And there are many more we can think of to help. Everyone is aware of what is happening in the planet now. How it has suffered for many decades. How touching and impressive it is if everyone also would be aware of the things they can do to preserve and even bring the earth back to life. Thinking green should start within yourself, if not you, who? If not now, when? Think big what you can contribute to saving our beloved world. You can take one step today. As we all believe that traveling thousands of miles starts off with just one step, a step forward.

Thinking Green Starts In You

By | January 23, 2013

037 Thinking GreenWhat comes to your mind when you heard about “thinking green”? When we say “Green” it is usually connected to the environment and Mother Nature. Thinking green is simply doing something that protects and supports the environment. But not all people are actually thinking green. Pro-environment organizations are actually campaigning that we need to change our lifestyle if we want to support the environment. One of the reasons why we suffer so much when calamities strike it’s because our environment is not strong enough to protect us. Another thing is serious illnesses can also be taken from the environment like for example “Dengue fever” that comes from mosquitoes. If our environment is not clean, especially if there is stagnant water around, mosquitoes can easily breed. That’s cleaning our environment will not only protect the environment itself, but also ourselves and other people. That’s why thinking green starts in you. If every person is thinking green, we will have a healthier, cleaner, and greener environment. Thinking green should stop in our minds, we need to take actions to enjoy the benefits.

Learn How To Recycle: One of the best way to think green is we need to learn how to recycle. Since most of the things that we buy are now recyclable, try to maximize it first before throwing it in the trash can. Did you know that manufacturers could save oil, water, electricity and other factors if people know how to recycle? Like for example, one of the most used materials around the world is paper. Paper is one of the biggest productions in the business world. That’s why we need to know how to recycle paper. This is also one of the most common trash that human have. For example, instead of tearing the gift wrap, try not tearing it and use it again next time. Once gift wrappers are torn, it will directly go to trash cans.

Reuse: Another way is to reuse products like for example water containers, use reusable bags, and other reusable products. Pro-environment groups are campaigning that we use reusable products to minimize or reduce our waste. Try to reuse items that are made of paper materials like envelope, gift wrappers, paper bags, and etc. With water containers or other containers use for drinking products, try to check the indication below if how many times it could be reuse. You will see a triangle form of arrow with number inside the triangle. The number indicates if how many times you can reuse the container. It could be 1, 2, 3 and so on.

Use Paperless System When Storing Documents: Since this generation is considered to be the computer generations, try to save your files and other important documents electronically or using gadgets like USB, external hard drive, mobile phone, iPad, tablet, and etc. These types of gadget have the feature to save important files and personal documents. Paperless is now being practice in many companies this is to avoid too much waste, trash, and cluttering.

Plant Your Own Vegetables: Another effective way that you can help in protecting the environment is to plant your own vegetable garden. Most of the vegetable that we can buy in the market have dangerous chemicals because farmers use pesticide to kill pest in their plantation, which could harm our atmosphere because of the pollution. But if you are planting your own vegetable garden that you will eat everyday will be safe because you grow them naturally without using any harmful chemicals. You are not only protecting the environment but also you and your family especially your children if you have any.
